Policy Grievance: Benefits for members beyond the age of 65

This past year members beyond the age of 65 responded to our call for input. Thank you! Your contributions allowed us to build a strong policy grievance.

At this time, members age 65 to 68 are offered reduced health benefits. When a member reaches age 69, they can no longer access health benefits and receive some financial compensation in place of benefits.

All members should have equal health benefits regardless of age.

We are pushing your employer to correct this issue.

On September 12, 2022 we filed a policy grievance as we believe the reduction of benefits for employees beyond the age of 65 is an unreasonable exercise of management rights and a discriminatory violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code.

We will keep you informed as the grievance process moves forward.
