We are the professionals who care for this city.

CIPP members are not just proud to call Ottawa their home, but also their vocation. The dedicated professionals at the City of Ottawa are being asked to do more with less than ever before, putting our city at risk.

Our city’s infrastructure, water, healthcare, culture, traffic, forestry, information technology, financial services, and more are under the care of CIPP members.

And by failing to provide them with the means to do their best work, we’re compromising our community, putting our families, homes, health and critical infrastructure at risk.

It’s time for respect

For several years, management at the City of Ottawa has failed to participate meaningfully in collective bargaining.

They have demonstrated that they are happy to show up to the bargaining table unprepared and uninterested in CIPP members’ bargaining priorities.

CIPP members are experts in their fields and deserve a respectful and fair approach to bargaining, as well as wages that keep up with the cost of living and sector patterns.

CIPP’s new approach

This time, to get better results, CIPP members are taking a new approach to bargaining.

They have come together to create a petition to demonstrate their collective unity and tell City of Ottawa management exactly what they expect going forward.

Their petition outlines members’ clear and reasonable expectations for a respectful and fair bargaining process that is beneficial to both parties.

As the caretakers of Ottawa and its residents, CIPP members want an agreement that invests in workers so they can provide high-quality services to their community, as well as raise employee satisfaction and attract top talent for the future.

CIPP Expectations for Bargaining Petition

Heading into the next round of bargaining, CIPP members are asking City of Ottawa Management to:

  • begin bargaining before the expiration of our current collective agreement
  • send representatives to the negotiation table who are empowered to bargain
  • commit to resolving straightforward issues at the negotiating table
  • offer fair wage increases in keeping with our sector
  • address our bargaining priorities

If you are a CIPP member and have not yet signed the petition and shared it with your colleagues please take the time to sign now.

CIPP members are at the heart of what builds Ottawa up. It’s time to invest in them and make public services in Ottawa even better.
