Join a Joint Health and Safety Committee

Joint health and safety committees (JHSCs) are made up of worker and employer representatives. These committees work to improve the health and safety of the workplace.

Committees identify potential health and safety issues and bring them to the employer’s attention. The committee must also be kept informed by the employer of any health and safety developments in the workplace.

It’s an important and valuable contribution to the union. We have members on 27 JHSCs across the City of Ottawa.

We are now recruiting 3 members to represent us at Joint Health and Safety Committees:

  • 1 member from Information Technology Services within the Innovative Client Services Department
  • 1 member from Corporate Finance Services Department
  • 1 member from Elections or Protocol or French Language services within the Office of the City Clerk

If you are a member of one of these groups and you’re interested in joining a Joint Health and Safety Committee, please get in touch.

If you are not included in one of these groups but would like to join a Joint Health and Safety Committee, please let us know and we will keep your name for any other openings.

We are also happy to answer questions and provide more information.
